Questions Frequently Asked Regarding Playing at Ragamuffin?
How Do I get to do a Saturday night Candlelight Concert at Ragamuffin?
#1 Rent the venue for $250. For that price, Ragamuffin will advertise your show through our website, emails, and publications that we regularly send our Calendar of Events to. You may bring in posters to post at the studio advertising your event. (Hopefully you will post them other places, as well.) On the night of the show, you will have a sound guy, one person overseeing the evening, and at least one or more persons running the café and selling your cds. Admission to shows is typically anywhere from $10 up. You decide the price you want to charge. We will make your tickets available on line from the time we post your show on our website. On the day of the show, you will have a soundcheck. At the end of the evening, you will receive a check back to you for ALL ticket money and CD money collected at Ragamuffin. Our venue “officially” holds 60 people. If you fill it up, you would definitely make your money back and then some!!! You will also receive a recording of your show at the end of the night. If interested, please send an email to Jackie through the website, requesting the specific dates that you would like to play. Also, send in samples of your music and background information.
#2 You may play at an Open Mic or play on a Friday night on the patio and bring so many people and play so amazingly that we book your for a Candlelight Concert. If we book you, we will do all of the above. At the end of the night, you will receive a check for 50% of the ticket sales. You will receive all of your cd sales.
How do I get to play on the patio on Friday nights for tips alone?
Submit an email requesting that you would like to do so. Send dates that you are available. Send a sample in of your music or come play at an open mic so that we can hear what your music sounds like. Ragamuffin will provide a small sound system and get you set up for the night. As soon as you are booked, you will be added to our website with a link to your website/myspace. This is definitely a “background” music type gig, but a great way for an artist to get in front of people for experience or just for fun. Your own music as well as covers is welcome here. We do ask that you refrain from “emo” type music is typically most folks do not want to hear this on an ongoing basis. We also do not allow profanity. Ragamuffin is a family friendly, teen friendly place and we want to keep it that way. Sometimes playing on a Friday night on the patio can earn or lead to an opportunity to play in the café for a Candlelight Concert.
How do I get to be a Featured Artist at Open Mic?
Email a request to do so with the date that you would like to be the Guest Artist. If we have heard you play before, then we do not need you to send a sample of your music. However, if we have not, you may need to send a few samples for approval. We may also hear you play at Open Mic and ask you to be the Featured Artist one night. The Featured Artist must be planned in advance. If far enough in advance, we will post our upcoming Open Mic Featured Artists on our Website with a link to your website/myspace if you have made it available to us. All Featured Artists need to be at Open Mic by 8:00. You may play 4 songs that do not exceed 20 minutes in total length.
